But some time you might forgot to carry it, and in that case, a soft copy of your Aadhaar Card i.e. E-Aadhaar might help you. If you want to download this digital form of Aadhaar Card, then you can download it by completing some simple steps without visiting to any Aadhaar center. For downloading E-Aadhaar, UIDAI has given a web portal, from where you can download you Aadhaar Card just by following few steps.
E-Aadhaar is a digital form of Aadhaar, which is equally authentic as your physical Aadhaar Card and it can be used anywhere in place of your physical card for authentication.
If you have undated any of your Aadhaar Card information, then the same will get updated in your E-Aadhaar immediately and you can download the updated Aadhaar for further use without waiting for the physical one.
Also, you can hide your Aadhaar number in your e-Aadhaar using the option of “download masked Aadhaar”. so that any other person will not misuse your Aadhaar number. Such a base is called a masked basis.
Steps to download E-Aadhaar Card
To download e-Aadhaar, UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has given three options using which E-Aadhaar can be downloaded. Following are the options offered by Unique Identification Authority of India (UIDAI) –
- Download e-Aadhaar by Aadhaar number
- Download e-Aadhaar by Enrollment ID (EID)
- Download e-Aadhaar by Virtual ID (VID)
You can download your e-Aadhaar in all the above three ways as well as you can hide your Aadhaar number by clicking on the masked Aadhaar option.
Download e-Aadhaar by Aadhaar number
If you want to download e-Aadhaar through Aadhaar number then you need to have your Aadhaar number with you and the mobile phone linked with to your Aadhaar number. You can download your e-Aadhaar by completing the following steps –
1. To download e-Aadhar go to UIDAI web portal
First of all, you have to go to the website of Aadhaar and go to the e-Aadhaar section. You can also go to the website of e-Aadhaar by clicking on the direct link – e-Aadhaar link
2. Select the option to download e-Aadhaar
On the Aadhaar website, UIDAI given three e-Aadhaar download options which are Aadhaar number, Enrollment ID (EID), Virtual ID (VID), among them, you can get e-Aadhaar download option by Aadhaar number. Has to be selected.

3. Enter your Aadhaar number
Then you have to enter your 12 digit Aadhaar number in the input field containing the Aadhaar number, you have to enter your Aadhaar number exactly that is on your original Aadhar card.

4. Masked base input
Under the Aadhaar number input field, you will see “I want a masked Aadhaar?” The option will appear if you want to hide your Aadhaar number one-Aadhaar ie masked, then click on this option, or else it will remain the same.

5. Fill the image captcha and click on “SEND OTP”
Under the masked Aadhaar option, you will see the CAPTCHA field. This is a security field. You have to enter the alphabet and number appearing in the small image on the right side of the CAPTCHA field. Make sure that the captcha is exactly as shown in the image. After this, you have to click on the button below the CAPTCHA field, it is on written “SEND OTP”.

6. Enter OTP and Download E-Aadhaar card
As soon as you click “SEND OTP”, you will reach a new page then you will get an OTP on the mobile number that is linked with your Aadhaar. you will have to fill it in the input field and answer the survey questions. then you have to click on “Verify And Download” as soon as you click your e-Aadhaar card is downloaded.

Download e-Aadhaar by Enrollment ID (EID)
If you want to download the e-Aadhaar by using Enrollment ID (EID), then you just have to change the 2 steps from the above step, here you just have to choose your enrollment ID option instead of the Aadhaar number and also fill date and time that is your Aadhar card update date and time.

After this, you have to enter your 14 digit Enrollment ID (EID) as well as the time when you get your Aadhaar updated or new. This time will be written on the enrollment receipt, which is given an Aadhaar update and new creation time.
After this, you have to select the option of mask base as per your convenience, then fill the captcha and then click on SENT OTP.
Then you will go to the page with OTP then you will have to download your Aadhaar by following step 6 as before.
Virtual ID (VID) e-Aadhaar download
To download e-Aadhaar using Virtual ID (VID) you just need to have your Aadhaar’s virtual ID. Then To download the e-Aadhaar, you have to follow the entire process as mentioned earlier You just have to make a change in step 2, you have to choose Virtual ID (VID) instead of Aadhaar number, the rest of the process will remain the same as before.

What is the password of download e-Aadhaar PDF?
Your e-Aadhaar will be downloaded as a PDF which is protected with a password, you have to enter a password to open it. But many people do not know their e-Aadhaar password. If you want to know your password, then it is a combination of your name and date of year. Suppose your name is RAJESH KUMAR and your date of birth is 02/03/1990, then your password will be “RAJE1990”.
Some questions related to e-Aadhaar card
E-Aadhaar is an electronic copy of a password protected Aadhaar in PDF form which is digitally signed by the competent authority.
According to the government sponsored Aadhaar Act, e-Aadhaar is as valid as normal Aadhaar, you can use it on any Aadhaar valid place only.
