Today the Aadhaar card has become an important document in everyone’s life and is necessary for most of the government work. Aadhaar card is an identification document issued by the Unique Identification Authority of India, which contains a 12 digit unique identification number and a barcode embedded with all the details of the Cardholder. These details include information like Name, Age, Address, Mobile number etc and some immutable information such as fingerprints and Iris scanning.

The Government of Indian has made it compulsory to link a list of personal document to the Aadhaar Card, and this list includes some important documents like PAN Card, Bank Account, Driving Licence, Demat Account, Mutual Funds and many more. To avail many online services, you have to get your identity verified by UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India). Keeping your Aadhaar updated is not only beneficial but it is quite necessary to take advantage of online services. The verification of your identity is done mainly in two ways, through your biometrics or an OTP sent to your mobile registered with Aadhaar Card. The OTP option is easy but with the time your registered mobile number might change and in that case, it has to be updated to avoid inconvenience.

How to change or update your mobile number in the Aadhaar

If you have to update your mobile number in your Aadhaar card, then you can update it only through the offline procedure. UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) has prohibited online mobile number alteration to avoid misuse of personal details.

But you can enter your mobile number update or change application through online method, which will reduce the time to be taken to update your mobile number in Aadhaar.

You can use 2 methods to update or change your mobile number in Aadhaar –

• Change or update mobile number in Aadhaar card through online application form method
• Change or update mobile number in Aadhaar card through offline application form method

Change or update mobile number in Aadhaar card through online application form method

In this method, you can submit an application to the UIDAI (Unique Identification Authority of India) online, in which a request number is generated, then you can make an appointment at your nearest Aadhaar centre soon after the online request.

The complete method is as follows –

Step 1: Visit the official Aadhaar portal. link is here – ask.uidai.gov.in

Step 2: login through your mobile number or mail id. Enter your mobile number (any mobile number) or email id and captcha, click on send OTP. Then you will get an OTP on your entered mobile number or mail id.

Step 3: After this, the OTP received on the mobile number you have to enter in the box on the right side of the screen then click on the “Submit OTP & Proceed” button.

Step 4: On the next screen you will see 2 options. New enrollment and update Aadhaar. You have to click on the update Aadhaar. Now you will reach on a new screen.

Step 5: Here you have to enter your name and Aadhaar number in the given input field and below that, you will see the option to update it separately like name, address, mobile number, biometric, etc. You will have to choose the mobile number from all of them.

Step 6: On the next screen, you will be given a mobile number and a captcha, here you have to enter the mobile number that you want to update, after this you will have to fill the captcha and then click on the “Send OTP” button.

Step 7: Now you have to enter OTP and click submit then you will go to the next screen.

Step 8: Here you will be shown the previous details filled by you, that you have to cross-check. If all is well, then now will have to click on submit.

Step 9: On the next screen you will see a success message with your appointment ID. After this, click on the book appointment option to book a slot at the Aadhaar Enrollment Center.

How to book an appointment to change or update the mobile number in Aadhaar?

Now you can book your appointment at any of the Aadhaar centers nearest to you through the appointment ID received and at the given time you can change or update your mobile number in the Aadhar card in no time through the appointment ID received by you.

Step 1: When you get the application number, you will have to book an appointment at your nearest Aadhaar centre, for this, you will get an option of book appointment at the bottom of the page itself.

Step 2: As soon as you click on the book appointment, then you will reach a new screen, here you will get various options to find your nearest Aadhaar center, you can search your Aadhaar center according to your convenience.

Step 3: The portal will give you a list of nearby Aadhaar centers from which you will have to choose an Aadhaar center and click on ‘Book Appointment’ and choose the date and time slot as per your convenience. When selecting the date, choose from the green slots because the red-colored slots are already booked.

Step 4: Finally check your details and click on submit and confirm it. Your appointment has been booked to update your mobile number.

Change or update mobile number in Aadhaar card offline application form (application form) method

If you want to change the mobile number in the Aadhaar card using the offline application method, then you have to follow the following steps –

Step 1: You have to go to your nearest Aadhaar Enrollment Center

Step 2: Here you will get the Aadhaar update form which you will have to fill.

Step 3: In the given form, just enter the current mobile number which you have to update, you don’t have to mention your previous mobile number.

Step 5: Then the executive will register your request and will give you an acknowledgement containing a URN number

Step 8: A fee of Rs. 25/- will charged for availing this service.
